Some people say this explains, far better than any other book (besides the Bible of course) the relation of the trinity.

I, on the other hand, have recently read something better--

pg. 116 of A Severe Mercy

Julian began to say something about a Persons of God, and I could see that Richard wasn't finding it helpful. Then I thought of the novel Davy and I had been talking about and mumured to Davy 'I've got it!'
'It's still not good,' said Richard when Julian had done.

Now, the man in the book: he's all me, isn't he? And he's all character, too, isn't he? Like the doctrine: All God and All man. It makes sense, doesn't it? And on more thing: suppose the characters run away with the story - authors are always saying that that happens. It might be necessary, whatever I had originally intended, for me to get killed - um, crucified...
Anyhow - you see?'

It is now week 2 of 8 for this season at Circle Square Ranch, Arden. I really wish i could post the pictures and videos of my time here, but due to the nature of the kids we are dealing with, and because of confidentiality, I cannot.

I don't think I've had a job or been involved with a ministry that is as tiring as this one.
Don't get me wrong, i'm not complaining one bit. In fact I thoroughly enjoy every min here.
It's busy all day, from sunrise to sunset, loving children.

I wouldn't change a thing.

God has been teaching me, speaking to me more and more about actively pursuing a heart to disciple. Learning what to say, what not to say, and to listen carefully to HIS words, and not using my own.

Please pray for continued strength, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally.

Life can move pretty quick and drain you in the same fashion.

Being home has brought on a unexpected mix of emotions.
Feeling like my mind is going--
Up
Down
Backward
Forward
Sideway
All mixed with thought and vision of what God has in store for me in this season.

I can''t always speak of my time in Arica, but I want to, I long to share about what LIFE was like--

What I have discovered in this month is that God is ALIVE in my life. He shows up, even when I want to left alone.
He has shown me just how--
Real He is,
How tangible He is.
He is LOVE,
Personified.

I have had some amazing encounters since being in the motherland. Meeting other passionate believers I have never met--
when I thought I had met them all.
I'm truly EXCITED about home; the one place I was not that excited about coming back too.

God has given me a heart for MY generation. To not be ashamed, stand up and praise God for the Kingdom's come and His will is being done.

I recently went to Circle Square Ranch Arden, where I will be working in ministry alongside some of my best friends. We had a great 2 days of fellowship and discussing what camp REALLY is to us--
a "temporary community."
We want to disciple youth and see them grow in significant ways for Jesus.

The main role I am undertaking is videography/photography. Capturing, documenting each week in order to create a DVD for the campers to take home and remember their experience, with the larger purpose of helping to continue their journey with a renewed LOVE for Jesus.

My other roles will include daily devotions with the staff (discipleship, accountability etc.) and periodically leading worship.

I will be heading up to Arden at the start of June to start preparing for summer camp, which starts at the beginning of July.

FILLED with every emotion I can conceive, this year God has revealed--
the MAN I need to be in this world.

spoke of Christ's LOVE to HIS people

EASTERN CAPE!!!!

My DTS outreach team and I spent about 11 days in a village, far from
any "modern" civilization.
When looking on google maps, the closest town is called "Coffee Bay".
(no it's not a town with rivers flowing with STARBUCKS, as we all
hoped)

My friend Matt and I are embarking on this journey once again leaving
Friday. March 12th.

We'll traveling up the east coast via a 21 hour bus ride, ending in
Umtata. We will proceed to take a 3 hour shuttle to a "eco friendly"
backpackers for the night. We'll then hike approx. 9kms along the
ocean, through so called "mountains" (which really are glorified
hills), to arrive in the village.

The purpose of this trip is to:
1. Visit our friends we made up there
2. Encourage other believers, including the Dr's, nurses and other
hospital staff we met before.
3. Capture a few photo stories (which we'll reveal when we come back)
for "A Voice for the Voiceless" South Africa.

Please be praying for:

Favour with the locals
Me and Matt don't FREAK out on each other (haha kidding, we get along JUST fine)
We are lead by the Holy Spirit

Sometimes in life, I have done things I know were wrong, but I
have done them anyway...And sometimes a little voice
tells me...you are useless...you are bad...doing these stupid
things....

But I FINALLY REALIZED-- although I'm a sinner, the GOD of the universe loves me. And even when I do screw up, I'm not a horrible person--I'm forgiven.

2007-2008 were difficult years in my life, but as I have walked through 2009, I have felt
CHALLENGED
PUSHED
LIFTED
LOVED
by the Lord our GOD like never before.

As God has
transformed me
broken me
molded me

In this last year, I have felt His nearness and watch-care like never before.

I am learning more and more what it means when I boldly proclaim, "I will go where HE wants me to GO."

This year God has lead me to:

Hawaii, USA
South Africa
Ontario, Canada

In 2010, I plan on staying in South Africa until April with YWAM/Voice for the Voiceless, continuing to seek HIS justice, and serve the community of Capricorn.

I have started to pray about what's next for me and ask God where I
should go in the summer and fall.

My heart is to see our generation rise up with strength and passion, to challenge them to step out in faith, to see them live with Hope as they embrace the love of our God.

And now an opportunity has come up for me to staff at the Circle Square Ranch
Arden, Ontario, (a summer youth camp) so please pray along side me as
I make this commitment.

I am also applying to staff a YWAM Discipleship Training School (DTS) in September 2010 called "Community Transformation" which is based out of Kona, Hawaii--the place where I came to know Jesus more and more this past spring.

This is my pursuit of a Christ-life existence.

This is my real life.

As the new year starts, I would like to ask for prayer for

that I would be a faithful servant,

Dec.17.09 update

As you may all know, I have been asking God some hard questions and in turn, expecting some hard answers.

What is my purpose on this earth?
What am I doing in South Africa?
How can i effectively serve the people here?
Am I really making an impact?
What more can I be doing?

Through the 5 or so weeks I have been here, the one answer I have been hearing is "yes". Funny right?
The only thing i hear God is telling me is, "yes Jonathan, be all you can be, do my work here on earth". Just simply caring for people, loving them for who they are, serving in any way I can, praying, playing, teaching, listening, singing, being a part of their lives.

I've spent the past 3 weeks working along side my friends Clinton and Lydia, who have dedicated their time here to seeing Gods love poured out on the people of Capricorn. Like I have stated before, we are leading simple home churches, bible studies with adults and children alike, and as the new year approaches we're praying to see these groups multiply and more hearts turned towards Christ.

I have been told by many South Africans that the holidays around here can get a bit hectic
and because of the busyness of this time of year, we have prayerfully decided to take a bit of a break from the home groups. Please be praying for safety as many of our friends are traveling home to see their families for Christmas.

Thank you so much for all your encouraging emails. They truly bring brightness and joy to my day/week and to be honest, I sometimes really NEED them.

I pray this Christmas season brings you all joy, love, and happiness. Keep your eyes focused on the true meaning of this all; Jesus Christ.

Searching for truth and purpose....

I have spent this past week searching, seeking, listening to God.
Asking myself and God questions about what my purpose is here, how am
I going to be effective for HIS purposes.

As I have mentioned before, I am involved with a community called
Capricorn, which is a coloured township situated 2 km away from my
home. I have felt God prompting me to minister within this community,
with simple home church, bible studies, teen/child groups.

At the bible study held today, we were talking about working within
God's will, listening to Him and TRULY being in a deep relationship
with Jesus Christ.
I want to know Christ more and more each and every new day.
I want to fully rely on Him and not subscribe to my own set of
preconceived notions.

So in saying that, I'm praying as to what EXACTLY God would want to
use me for here. I still feel stirred to work within Capricorn, but I
NEED God to be my guide, my eyes, my ears, my words, my everything.

Please pray that I will be a humble servant.
That I would follow God into whatever He would have me do here.

Back in South Africa

I've made it safe.

8 seperate flights,
3 countries,
60 hours of traveling,
6 in air movies,
6 single serve meals,
I've arrived.

Still jet lagged and not sure what time zone my body is actually on at the moment, feels nothing but right to be back in the place God has called me to serve.

I leave TOMORROW (Friday Oct.30) for my LONG journey back to South Africa.
It's a bitter sweet feeling, re-connecting with friends and family here, missing my country, my home and now leaving again.

In this short season that I have been here, God has been teaching me about many many things.

Reliance on HIM
Trust
Resting in HIM (as this time at home has had it's ups and downs)

I can say with complete confidence that even though I felt "lost" being home, that God has purpose for me here. Speaking at youth group, church, school, and ENDLESS cups of coffee with great friends.

Since being home I've been reading through Acts. I'm not quite finished, but Gods been speaking to me through this day to day. Living as a vessel of Gods love, whether it's here, Vancouver, Hawaii, South Africa, Russia, where ever.

My mission in life is to speak truth and love just as God loves. So speak truth no matter what. Standing up for truth in each and every moment in life. Living sacrificially in my daily walk and humbling myself.

Even though it's only been 2.5 weeks since being back, God has provided for me to go back to South Africa. I'll be booking my flight this week to leave the first week of Nov. If I havn't seen/talked to you yet, i'm sorry. I'm trying to see as many family and friends as I can. If you would like to see me, please email/message me back and set up a time to go out for coffee. God is a provider...

Over and over again,
I can never complain,
I am blessed beyond words,

I can't explain how I feel, the emotions, the comfort of what it's like to be in our Fathers arms.

After being home for about a week, I've had an over-whelming response and interest in my life. Sometimes I wondered if I lived this life I talk about these past few months. But it was me, God reminds me each and every new day that I am with Him, was with Him and will always be with Him.

Without explaining too much via email, God has once again blown me away with his provision.

I'm getting that much closer to my goal of returning to South Africa. I'm so very close to paying for my plane ticket, just a little bit more and I'm set.

I can't thank all of you enough for not only believing in me, but listening and trusting God. That means more to me that any dollar amount. TRULY!!

I would REALLY love to meet with as many of you one-on-one as I can, so if you want to, PLEASE email me back, call me (519-752-5513), facebook, pigeon messanger, letter, WHATEVER, just let me know if you can/want to hear about my trip. Is this my life?
Am I really here?

After traveling for 24 hours straight, these are questions I ask myself and God. Life seems to be very surreal, like i'm living another persons amazing life. But I pinch myself, and realize God has given this beautiful gift of life.

I've been back in Brantford, Canada for only about 48 hours now, yet it seems like i've never left. I love my family, friends, my country, my city (even though it can be boring at times haha) my church family, my community. God will and does have purpose for me while i'm here, but I still can't wait for the next journey.

My plan while I am home is to connect with as many of you as possible, share about my time away, and just enjoy life here. I'm also going to be selling off my many items I do not need, and hopefully getting a part time job to save some money to be able to go back.

As I have stated before, I've been waiting on God for direction for the next season of my life, as I want to continue full time missions. I knew that going into YWAM, that it was just the beginning of a new season, a season and life of obedience. Through prayer/talks with God, endless conversations with friends, I feel as if God wants me to continue the ministry I was involved with in South Africa.

I was blessed with a 450 Euro flight credit, so that's at least half my ticket back to Cape Town. I'll need about another $600 Cnd for the other half of my flight. If you would like to donate Air Miles, that is an easy way to support me as well. I've calculated that my monthly costs, inc. rent and food will be about $500 cnd a month. A mix of emotion this week as my DTS is coming to an end.

I've been blessed by friends (I call them family now) here in South Africa and in Kona, Hawaii, more than I can ever describe in words.

Love
Does
Exist

Gods love has been persistent and abounding.
God has been faithful.
God has been gracious.
God pours down joy in my life.

Love
Faith
Grace
Joy

These are all his characteristics.
They are WHO GOD IS.

I've met God in the many corners I have crawled into.
I've met God in the massive fields I have ran in.

God is always waiting for me around each and every corner.

My faithful journey with the Creator is never going to end, but this season is coming to end just as another season of faithfulness is about to begin.

As I have stated before in other updates, I not 100% sure what journey I'm going to step into next, but I know God is right beside each step of the way.

I'll be home in Ontario on the 24th of Sept. and I am really stoked to connect with you my friends and family.
Be able to swap stories, share life together, live out God's love with each person we come in contact with.

Some things I need prayer for as I transition back home.

1. Continued growth in Gods word
2. A clear vision of the Lords will for my life
3. Financial backing for the next season of my life

There's a few more, but those are the main 3 that have been on my heart and mind.

As my DTS is ending, I was pondering about my time here and i have come up with a couple lists.

26 things I love about South Africa:

1. It's MANY people groups
2. Delicious pot bread (no, not that kind of pot)
3. Living in a hut with a floor made out of cow dung
4. Traveling on a crowed train
5. Traveling on a crowed taxi
6. Traveling on a sweet yellow bus, ahem I mean truck
7. The hospitality of the people here
8. Getting 7 rand for every Canadian dollar
9. Cheap, but tasty coffee
10. Living with a family of believers, sharing life, love and our love of Christ with each other
11. THE MOUNTAINS!!!!
12. THE OCEAN!!!
13. THE CONSTANT WAVES!!!
14. Learning about the Xhosa people
15. Learning to speak Xhosa (not very well though)
16. Paying 6 rand in 5 and 10 cent pieces for a taxi and getting laughed at
17. Spending time in the townships talking to everyone
18. BRAAI (South African BBQ's)
19. Breathtaking views from the tops of mountains
20. African time (there's always time to have a chat, not matter how busy you are)
21. Cathy and Frank
22. How gorgeous the people are here, inside and out
23. The children
24. How dancing is a huge part of worship
25. Their love of music

Key things to remember when in South Africa:

1. Always carry a camera, because you never know
2. Don't carry a "normal" camera bag, it could be easily recognized and stolen
3. Do not pay a taxi in 5 and 10 cent pieces, they don't like that
4. Always carry a bible
5. when taking the train, make sure you leave 20 min early, the train is always late, on time and early
6. Never walk along at night in the city
7. when walking along at night in rural areas, watch out for cows, dogs, sheep, and many land mines (cow dung)
8. A torch or headlamp is a must in the rural areas
9. You'll need shorts, a sweatshirt, pants, rain jacket, toque, gloves, t-shirt, hiking shoes, sandels, sneakers all in one day. You never know.
10. When asking for water in a restaurant, make sure you specify TAP water. (and often that isn't even an option)
11. Stop at Kalky's in Kalk Bay for fish and chips
12. You can always talk down any vendor, usually at least half of what they ask

I'll be leaving Cape Town on Sat. to go north for two weeks for a conference and debrief of our time here. Therefore, I may not have internet for awhile. So if you want to get ahold of me, well you may not be able to. I may get internet for one day, but that's not for sure.

Keep me in your prayers as my time ends here. For the seeds of faith that we planted to grow and prosper. The things we have started here will continue as more groups come here.

I'll be flying home to Ontario on Sept.23 and arriving in Toronto on the 24th. A welcoming at the airport would be MARVELOUS, but i understand if you can't =)

Busy is the name of the game here. God has been opening doors left right and center. I've been getting involved with starting home church's, bible studies, and leading youth groups. I'm also continuing to discover issues with human trafficking and bringing awareness.

I have been healthy and getting sleep (thank you Jesus) on a consistent basis the first time in months. I have been shown and have been an example of the power of prayer. Thank you for your continued prayers.

As I have talked about before, the issue God is placing in my heart is human trafficking. I have listed 3 websites that are fighting this horrible epidemic here in South Africa. I urge you to pray for these issues:

Sex slaves
Prostitution

These issues are REAL and happen everywhere. Don't just think they are overseas, in Africa, the middle east, asia, but it happens all over the world, including North America.

AHHH SICK

It has been a slightly stressful week. Many of you might know, i've been battling allergies, cold, etc. since I was in Kona. It got better, worse, better. worse for a couple months. This week whatever I had/have climaxed. I woke up last Wed with a killer migrane and the shakes. On thursday, I ended up going to the Dr. and he told me I had/have the flu and a fever. I spent thursday, friday, some of sat, some of sunday and monday in bed. Taking whatever pain meds I could get just to take away the fever and migrane.
Thankfully, through many nights of prayer, and rest, I feel better today, not 100%, but better. The headache has been sparse, and the fever has all but gone. I'm still feeling a bit weak and tired, and it's hard making it through the day without wanting to just sleep. But that's not what God wants for me, so I will not let satan win and give in.

My group and I have done a LOT of research, emailed, made phone calls regarding the issue of trafficking. We have discovered some absolutely shocking facts and statistics, some things I would not have guessed. It's truly God who is placing this desire to see change in our hearts.

As we continue for the next 4 weeks, we will be plugging into different NGOs (Non government organizations), ministry groups, etc. to be able to battle this injustice.

As I stated before, I has asked if anyone wants to be a prayer partner, to continue and promise to pray for issues, my team and me. If you still would like to be a prayer partner, please let me know. I will be listing specific prayer points, so please read and listen to God's voice.

Aug.3.09 update from Capetown

Moloweni (South African greeting, means Hello to many people)

I have been in Capetown for a week now. As a team we have spent the week to focus and discovering opportunities of ministry in the greater Capetown area. Our leaders Deb and Rog had previous commitments and had to leave us, so we now have a student leader who is from Capetown. We have visited townships, gone on prayer walks, eaten delicious African BBQ (well that's not so mission focused, but it was amazing), and as a group talked about our last month of travel.

As our time on the overland trip was coming to an end, a lot of us, including myself, were still processing what had happened. At the time it's sometimes difficult to know if we had done any good and if it was what God wanted. As we sat around and told Dave and Laura Fisher (who started a Voice for the Voiceless South Africa) about the different things we had done. I realize now just how much God was at work in and through us. From street ministry, to preaching in churches, we had done many things in and for Gods Holy name.

This week we are praying and starting the new ministries. Please pray for focus, vision for me and my team. That what we would be doing is for God, for HIS love, and not just about us.

I appreciate all the emails i have received from everyone about life back home. Sorry if i have written back yet. The internet here is temperamental and sometimes randomly stops working. As I make time this week, I'll be sure you write back to all of you individually.

BACK TO CAPETOWN!!

God is amazing and SOO faithful!! Our team here has been blessed endlessly!!
There are many stories of how God used us and many stories and some CRAZY times we had. My plan is to reveal stories every time i write an update email. Now that I am back in Capetown, i'll have regular access to the internet and i would LOVE to chat/receive emails from anyone who would like to know and details of what has happened the last month and/or would like to know what is going to happen in the next month and half we have left here.

I have been praying lots through what is going to happen next after my DTS is done, and i'm positive that my journey isn't over. I'm going back to Ontario on Sept 18th, and hopefully, God willing, coming back to South Africa within a month to continu whatever mission work i'm doing here. I would love to have prayer partners while on my journey with God. If you are interested and want to be a part of a prayer team for me, then let me know and i can email specific prayers points.

Who would have thought? A bearded, Canadian guy from Brantford, On. is now in Capetown. I can hardly believe it myself. When i look back over the last 5 years of my life, i wouldn't have pictured myself here. I love this journey God has had me on these last couple of years, and especially the last 3 months. I can't thank you enough for just being my friends, my support. God is the ultimate inspiration in what I am doing. He is my guide, my leader, my best friend. So I thank God for all His love and peace He has given me. Capetown has be called the most beautiful place in the world. Now, i havn't been outside of North America until now, but I can see why people say that. Mountains meet the ocean in a matter of approx. 1 km. It's incredible how creative God is. Some of my team went to a local church today and the pastor said "When God created the world, He started with Capetown". I know God has me here for a reason, and it not just this short season. I'm praying to God to reveal to me what my next step is after this 3 month part of my DTS. So please pray for revelation for what's going to happen beyond Sept. I'm continuing to raise support while I am here on a month to month basis, to be able to go into full time missions starting in Oct. Well, the time has come. I'm flying out to Capetown on Thursday @ 12:30!!! Time flies!!! I always felt like my time here was going "slow" (but in a good way), but this last month has flown by. Without a doubt God is moving. He has plans for us, He has a vision to see this world changed and I want to be a part of that change.
I would truly appreciate your prayers. If you could specifically pray for unity within my team, unity within the team going to Central America, for us to be obediant to what God would have us do, for safety, for provision, and favour with the locals.

God IS a provider....

Time after time I have been reminded that God IS a provider. It's not that he provides, but in his character, the God that He is. I have heard of stories from many people here at YWAM, and from friends who have seen "dramatic" provision. God always seemed to provide for me in 'practical' ways, like friends who happen to get extra shifts at work to be able to give, or selling something i own etc.
But today the "box" i put God in was completely shattered. Our team had a time this morning to pray and act on what God was telling us. It was a time to give. One of my teams members who is going to South Africa, felt God asking them to give all that they had to our team. It was enough to cover the remaining amount that we owed as a team. PRAISE GOD!! I bawled so hard, out of happiness, out of thankfulness and joy. There were MANY things, objects, items, given away. I've been feeling a little stressed and worn out because of some things, relationships, money problems etc. in my life, and instead of going to God and the bible, i have mostly turned my ipod on and slept. But today God told me to give it away. My ipod touch, my music. So I gave it away to the person God told me too.
All this time leading up until we leave for outreach, i have been trying to sell anything i have i don't really need including my car. It's not worth much, but at least it's something. About two months ago our school leader Paul was read ended by someone smashing his trunk in and since then the person who hit him has not been found. Paul and Susi (his wife) can't afford to fix it, nor can they go without a car having two young children. I heard through the grape vine they really want/need a 4X4 suv type car. I thought PERFECT, they can have mine, but it's in Canada, and it would cost probaly as much as it's worth just to ship it here. So God piped in and told me to give them whatever money i can sell my car for towards them getting a new car. I feel released, I have obeyed and God HAS provided me with what He knows i have needed all along!!!

If you have been keeping in touch with me, you may know that it's been a bit of a "stressful" time for me recently. I'm leaving for South Africa in less than 3 weeks, the hot summer has hit, the VOG (volcanic fog) is rolling back, i'm almost out of money and some life decisions that have been made.

I prayed God would provide my finances on the day they were due, but my timing isn't always Gods timing. I still had $3500 owing for my outreach, and i managed to pay $500 of it on the due date, leaving $3000. As of today, i've had $1000 come in from some very generous friends (thank you, you know who you are), but that still leaves me about $2000 short. Currently i'm trying to sell my drum kit (which is REALLY hard) in order to be able to go.

But enough about money. I've been feeling sick/allergetic/tired because of the VOG, which doesn't really ever go away. Please continue to pray for energy and motivation for these last couple of weeks in Hawaii, I want to make the most of my time here.

Hopefully by now you've been able to see the Sex+money book and/or the 30 days of prayer book. PhotogenX has LOTS and LOTS of these books if you are interested. I can mail more of them before I leave for South Africa if you want one for yourself, or you feel like this is something you could partner in and would like to distribute them to your friends. JUNE. 2 UPDATE

Another radical update from you friendly, worldly, YWAMer, Jonathan.
I have had an "interesting" few weeks, not only because of my DTS, but other life decisions that have been made.
At times I have felt completely surrounded with the Holy Spirit, but at other times, I have felt alone. This could be an attack from the enemy, i'm not sure. But as of now, i'm desiring and searching for God's heart, and He shows up time and time again. Last week it was "spiritual gifts" week. We had a speaker named Amy, who is a staff of the Kona campus, and her story of the some of the spiritual experiences she has had, most of you may have only seen in movies, or read about.
We had a few times to pray and ask the Lord to give us a spiritual gift, (tongues, healing, prophecy, etc.), and I havn't received any gifts (that i know of), yet.
I'm still praying as to what God wants for me, and patiently waiting for HIS TIMING.

I have about 3 weeks left here in Kona, before I head to Capetown South Africa until Sept. 18, which i will be flying back to Ontario. I'm praying, and also asking you to pray for me, as to what God would have me do after my time with the photogenX DTS. There are a LOT of opportunities to work with South African PhotogenX team, so that's something to pray about.
I also have my outreach fees due this week. I KNOW God has called me here, I have seen that confirmed in many ways. But at this point i do NOT have the $3500 to be able to go to South Africa. Aloha!!!!

God is amazing!! The love He pours out is overwhelming. The constant love I have received lately is encouraging.

As a part of my DTS we are leaving for our "outreach" portion on June 25. The team I am joining is heading to South Africa for 3 months. We are going to be on a "overland truck", which is basically an old army truck converted for passengers. We will be traveling for 26 days stopping at villages around South Africa, working with food programs, church plants, medical care etc. The next two months aren't set in stone as to what we are doing, but God will direct us and open doors to serve and share the Gospel.

The main reason I am writing is to ask if anyone feels God directing them to partner with me financially. Since the South African "rand" has become stronger with the "dollar", the costs of our outreach are higher then expected. At this point, I'm $3500 american dollars short. I would love it if you could pray and ask God is he is asking you to support me.

THIS WEEK...

This week has been PIVOTAL for me. We had three New Zealand'ers come and "teach" us this week, but it wasn't just teaching. They lead us in musical worship (which i got to be a part of, playing drums all week), they lead us in prayer and also in prophecy. I was encouraged time after time to be more bold. Being a Canadian, i think we as a country, are passive people. That's not always a bad thing, but God calls ALL of His people to be BOLD. I need to be bold, i want to be bold, I AM GOING TO BE BOLD!!! A few of the speakers that have visited our class have told me God is raising me up to be a leader, a TRUE MAN of God. If you know me at all, I serve, I do things in the background, helping others. This was hard for me to hear, because that adds a lot of pressure. But with God, and all of his power, his will build me up and stand beside me in victory!!!

Isaiah: 54

the hike to END all hikes

I'll be honest, I've never really been a HARDCORE hiker. I like to mountain bike, snowboard, but when it came to hiking, i usually opted out. But yesterday our DTS group when on this INCREDIBLE hike to WaipioVally here in Hawaii. I'm not exactly sure HOW far the hike was, but lets just say, it felt like it was never going to end. The road leading down to the start, was more or less a 45 degree slope, and walking back up that 1 mile road almost KILLED ME!! But through the "rain forest" like forest, over the moss covered boulders, along the muddy paths, and "fording" through a river to reach the 2000 foot waterfall, was WELL worth it. I didn't take a digital camera with me, but only a point and shoot film camera, so if you have facebook, some people took pictures and you can see a glimspe of this God made masterpiece.
I can't describe the feeling of laying in a waterfall pool, on my back looking up. It was simply beautiful. The end.

Throughout my time in Kona, God has been showing me what LOVE, GRACE, PATIENCE really means, and how HE is the ultimate in all those ways. I fall short in every way. I strive to be everything God has called me to be, to be the MAN of GOD He wants me to be. Yet still, God accepts me, knows my heart, and through all my short-comings, i am CONSTANTLY LOVED by Him, not matter what. Now whether you believe in such love, or whether this love is a concept not a reality, the truth is right there, just a hair away from you. God does not hold love above you, like a PIÑATA full of said love, leading you blindly with a bat. He gives it to you freely, openly, WHOLE HEARTLY for us, all we have to do is accept.
I DO!!!!!!!
I want to love like him, see HIS people the way he sees them.
These are the things I pray daily.

I'm hoping through this time, and the rest of my life, I will continue this pursuit of Christ. For my LOVE for HIM will not fade, to be Christ like.

Dear friends, family and loved ones,

As you may already know, I have been living in Kona, Hawaii since April.2.09. I'm attending a Youth With a Mission (YWAM) course called PhotogenX DTS (discipleship training school). This course focuses on using photography to bring injustices to light in the world, and to spread Jesus' love and passion for all the nations.

I will be in Kona until June 25, and from there I will be traveling with 16 other friends from my DTS to South Africa to join the PhotogenX team already established there. There are 3 other groups from my DTS traveling to Panama, and to other Central and South American countries such as Cuba, Columbia, and Nicaragua. Those teams will be launching a 30 day prayer book called 'Voice for the Voiceless' in the Spanish speaking world. This book was created by our school leaders Paul and Susie Childers in order to address the issue of gender-based injustices around the world. (www.voiceforthevoiceless.com.au)

I have sent a few 'Voice for the Voiceless' prayer books for you to have, as well as a book the last PhotogenX team made called 'Sex + Money, A global search for human worth'. This book made out of a year long photo track going around the world photographing and discovering issues and injustices that God wants to end. Please read, pray and know these aren't just statistics, but humans like you, me, your family members, and friends, that these issues are happening right in our own backyards, cities, and countries.

As a part of this ministry, I'm wanting to and have felt God calling me to join them on more of a long term basis. At this point, coming to YWAM and joining the PhotogenX DTS has been God's calling on my life and I'm praying to God to reveal this next step in HIS plan for my life and how that is going to look.

I truly appreciate the support you have all shown me since I have started this journey. As I continue, please pray for clarity and direction for Gods purpose for me as well as continued financial support, as working for PhotogenX is a voluntary ministry. The next step I'm praying through is to whether or not I can go on the next PhotogenX 'around the world track'. At this point I do not have the funds to buy an around the world ticket.
